Shoot For The Stars Aim For The Moon is here.
Pop Smoke had his whole career ahead of him. One of the most exciting and promising talents in the Rap & Drill scene. Pop Smoke was breaking down barriers and drawing bridges between the UK Drill and the US Drill scene. The potential to become of the greats was there.
Track 17, “Got It On Me” samples 50 Cent’s huge hit “Many Men” and previous comparisons to 50 Cent’s rise back in 2003 are extremely accurate. The impacts he made on the scene, the people around him, music fans, and other artists in his short career is apparent.
Other samples include 50’s “Candy Shop” (On Track 10, “The Woo”), Ginuwine’s “Differences” (On Track 15, “What You Know Bout Love”) and Tamia’s “So Into You” (On Track 14, “Something Special”) track.
Earlier in the year when 50 Cent started announcing that he would be looking to work on Pop’s posthumous album, numerous artists were rumored to be included on the feature list. The 19 track album includes features from Quavo, DaBaby, Lil Baby, Swae Lee, Future, Rowdy Rebel, Roddy Ricch, Tyga, Karol G, Lil Tjay, and King Combs.
The 48-second Intro track alone is a statement that tells the listener that this is going to be a fantastic piece of work. An extraordinary debut album that brings all of Pop Smoke’s elements and strengths onto one project.
Long live Pop Smoke’s legacy and music. RIP Pop Smoke.
