With the release of his second studio album, Heavy Is The Head and it now coming to the end of another successful year for Stormzy, he sat down with Dotty at Radio 1Xtra to discuss the album and this past year.
Discussing the name behind the album, he has soon realised that he has a lot of responsibility on his shoulders as a role model and one of he biggest artists in the game.
He addresses that some fans or doubters will think he has gone to the Pop world or the “mainstream” as he looks back at the evolution of him as an artist that visualizes his use of a variety of sounds between Grime, Rap, Hip-Hop, Soul and R&B.“Till the day I die, I will always be able to pick up a mic and spray and be the best in the room” on the use of Grime but he has always wanted to branch his sound further out into different genres as he is a true lover of music as he emphasises further, “I have always wanted to be this musician, like I’ve always, I’ve tried, I’ve attempted, I love music so much, I love melody, I love soul, I love R&B so much…”.
He goes on to discuss further topics such as potential resentment or jealousy from older artists, his break up with Maya Jama, growth as a person and much more.
