Stormzy’s second studio album Heavy Is The Head has dropped today with huge anticipation. Fans and music fans alike will be expecting big things from the album that follows his debut album entitled Gang Signs and Prayers that dropped back in 2017.
His debut album took off and elevated Stormzy’s name and musical capability to another level. Success and milestones have followed for Big Mike with the Glastonbury performance being one of the biggest moments in career, let alone this year. Showcasing the importance of this moment with the cover art showing Stormzy holding the bullet proof vest designed by Banksy, ahead of the performance.
The album includes the already known features of Burna Boy, Ed Sheeran and Headie One but also features from Aitch, H.E.R, YEBBA and Tiana Major9. Those features alone should tell you how much diversity and variety the album holds. The release of “Vossi Bop” earlier this year got the ball rolling but the release of “Crown” later on, it showcased that this upcoming album, (much like his first) would not refuse to be a tracklist of repetition. A mix of Rap, Grime, Trap, Drill, Soul, R&B all comes together to complete the album. The horizon for Stormzy clearly does not end and he knows that he can keep aiming and striving for the top spot in the UK scene.
Lastly, if you grew up in the early 2000’s then you will be familiar with the ever popular TV programm, Tracy Beaker. Well, Stormz manages to effortlessly and effectively vocally sample the theme song to the show in track 14, “Superheroes”.
