BET 2019 Hip-Hop Awards Summary

Last night, the BET 2019 Hip-Hop Awards took place with a range of performances from a Rick Ross, a surprise from Lil Kim Medley, and others, including Megan Thee Stallion, Saweetie, Lil Jon and Petey Pablo.

Single of the Year went to the remix of “Old Town Road” by Lil Nas X featuring Billy Rae Cyrus. Album of the Year was won by Travis Scott for his Astroworld project that was released last summer, Travis also took home the award for Video Director of the Year. The Best New Hip-Hop Artist went to DaBaby and Hustler of the Year went to Jay-Z.

DJ of the Year went to Mustard and Producer of the Year went to DJ Khaled. The life of the late great Nipsey Hussle was also celebrated during the award ceremony as the MVP of the Year award was awarded to the late rapper.

In other awards, the Best Hip-Hop Video went to Cardi B for her track “Money”, Best Collab to Lil Nas X featuring Billy Rae Cyrus on the “Old Town Road (Remix)”, Hot Ticket Performer went to Megan Thee Stallion and Lyricists of the Year went to J.Cole. Best Hip-Hop Style aka. the Made You Look award was handed to Cardi B. Best Mixtape to Megan Thee Stallion for her project Fever. The Best Featured Verse went to J.Cole on his feature on 21 Savage’s track “A Lot”. Another award won by J.Cole was the Impact Track award for his single “Middle Child”. The Best International Flow went to Ghana’s Sarkodie whilst Tory Lanez (Canada) was nominated along with Ghetts and Little Simz from the UK, Nasty C (South Africa) and Kalash (France).

During the cereomny, there was also a Rap Battle Compeition between T-Top and DNA who went up against eachother to win $25K

Lil Duval, Jess Hilarious and other comedians took part in the BET Comedy Cypher:
